What is AI ITSM?
AI ITSM uses AI to handle IT service requests end to end: understanding the request, checking policy, getting approval and making the change in systems like Okta, then recording it.

Short answer
AI ITSM (AI for IT service management) uses AI to resolve IT requests instead of only logging them as tickets. Employees ask in plain words, usually in Slack or Teams; the AI recognises who is asking, checks the company's policy, gets any approval the policy requires, makes the change in systems like Okta, and records every step. The four ways a request can end
- Answered from the IT knowledge base, when no change is needed.
- Done automatically by a playbook, for safe and routine changes.
- Done after approval, when the policy names an approver.
- Handed to a person, with the category, priority and context already filled in.
What it needs underneath
- A record of people, managers, groups and apps (often called a context graph), so it knows who is asking.
- Written access policies, so the policy decides who approves rather than the AI.
- Connections to identity and other systems, so it can make the change and not just describe it.
- An audit trail of every action, for security reviews.

Is AI ITSM the same as a chatbot on the IT portal?
No. A chatbot answers questions; AI ITSM also carries out the change, with approvals, in your real systems.
Which requests are best to start with?
Frequent, rule-based ones: app access, password and MFA resets, and onboarding and offboarding.
