BeforeQuery vs Zendesk AI agents
If you're on Zendesk, its own AI agents are the obvious first look. Here's how they compare with adding BeforeQuery's AI Support Agent on top of the same Zendesk.
Last updated 6 October 2026
The short version
Choose Zendesk AI agents if
- You're on Zendesk and want AI agents included in your plan, with resolutions counted for you.
- You need voice, messaging and email from one vendor, or the new commerce agents for orders and returns.
- You want the agent and the helpdesk on one bill.
Choose BeforeQuery if
- You want AI employees for several teams with one approval queue in Slack and one activity record.
- You want it to start in draft mode, suggesting replies to your team until it passes a rehearsal on your past tickets.
- You want refunds capped per customer and per day, and a rehearsal on past tickets before going live.

Built into your helpdesk, or one platform across teams
Zendesk's AI agents are part of the Zendesk plan, so there's no separate product to buy or connect, and Zendesk has been adding voice, commerce agents and custom agents through 2026.
BeforeQuery sits on top of Zendesk (or Intercom) and is one of five AI employees on one platform. The same approval rules, Slack app and activity record cover IT, Marketing, Sales and Finance as well as Support.
Pricing
Zendesk bills per automated resolution: a few are included per agent each month and extra ones cost $1.50 to $2.00. BeforeQuery sets pricing on a short call.

Can BeforeQuery and Zendesk's AI agents run together?
Usually you'd pick one to answer customers. Teams often keep Zendesk as the helpdesk and add BeforeQuery for its other AI employees and approvals.
What counts as a resolution in Zendesk?
Zendesk counts an automated resolution only when the conversation doesn't escalate to a person, and since 2026 each one is also checked by a separate AI evaluation.
