Agents, workflows and chatbots
- A chatbot replies with text. An agent also acts: it searches, reads, writes or calls another system, then checks the result.
- A workflow runs a model and tools along steps written in advance. An agent decides its own next step as it goes.
- Fixed workflows suit well-defined tasks where you want predictable results. Agents suit open-ended tasks where the number of steps can't be known in advance.
Agentic AI and AI employees
