Parental Leave Intake
Parental leave intake completed in 2 days
Parental leave is the highest-stakes moment in an employee's HR relationship. Regulations vary by jurisdiction, benefit elections are time-sensitive, coverage arrangements have to work, and everyone involved is emotional. Handled by ticket, it feels transactional at exactly the moment the employee needs it to feel considered. Handled well, it becomes a story people tell for years.
An hour-by-hour walkthrough.
Step by step.

HR Policy & Benefits Q&A
Employees ask policy questions before submitting a formal leave request — Harry answers grounded.
Answers about this playbook.
How does this handle jurisdictions with different leave laws?
Policy indexed with location tags. Harry reads the employee's location from HRIS, retrieves the applicable statutory + company policy, and grounds every recommendation in the right jurisdiction. California FMLA + PDL + CFRA is different from Texas FMLA-only is different from EU parental leave — Harry handles each.
What about adoption or surrogacy?
Same intake flow with adoption / surrogacy variants. Harry adjusts documentation requirements (adoption placement date vs. birth date) and applicable-policy references accordingly.
Can the leave plan be modified after approval?
Yes — leave-modification is a separate playbook. Extend dates, adjust return arrangements, add unpaid extension. Same HRBP-review model to preserve human touch on sensitive changes.
How is confidentiality handled?
PII masking on every LLM call — Harry sees the employee's leave dates and benefits elections, but sensitive medical details are masked before reaching the model. HRBP has full access; Harry has necessary access.
What if the employee changes their mind mid-leave?
Return-modification request routes to HRBP + manager. Harry helps draft the request but doesn't process it autonomously — decisions on mid-leave changes deserve human judgment.
