How BeforeQuery works with Google Drive

Everything you can do once the Google Drive integration is connected.

Google Drive — Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about connecting BeforeQuery to Google Drive.

Yes. BeforeQuery can index content from Google Shared Drives (formerly Team Drives) in addition to personal Drive folders. This is especially useful for organizations that store their shared documentation in Shared Drives accessible to all team members.
BeforeQuery indexes Google Docs (full text content) and text-rich Google Sheets. Binary files such as images, PDFs without text layers, and non-text file formats are skipped. Google Slides support is on the roadmap.
Yes. You select specific folders during source configuration. BeforeQuery only indexes files inside those folders and their sub-folders. You do not need to grant access to your entire Drive.
BeforeQuery uses a configured sync schedule to periodically re-index your selected Drive folders. On each sync run, it checks file modification timestamps and only re-processes documents that have changed since the last sync.
You control visibility. Map your Google Drive source to a restricted BeforeQuery collection to ensure the indexed content only appears in your employee portal, not in public-facing customer widgets.
